1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how ShareSifter ("the App," "we," "us") handles information when you use the ShareSifter iOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy applies to all users of the App.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
ShareSifter does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IP addresses
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or any other device data
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
There are no user accounts and no sign-in is required to use the App.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following information is stored exclusively on your device using iOS UserDefaults and is never transmitted anywhere:
- Portfolio symbols — the stock tickers you add to your portfolio
- Watchlist symbols — tickers you monitor in the Screener
- Custom filter presets — screener configurations you save
- App settings — your in-app preferences
This data is removed if you delete the App from your device.
4. Third-Party Data: Alpha Vantage
Market data (stock prices, financials, company information) is fetched from Alpha Vantage, a third-party financial data provider. When the App requests market data, your device makes network calls to Alpha Vantage's servers.
These requests may include standard technical metadata inherent to any internet request (such as your IP address), which is governed by Alpha Vantage's Privacy Policy. We do not control or have access to any data Alpha Vantage may collect.
Market data provided by Alpha Vantage may be delayed by up to 15–20 minutes on the free tier.
5. On-Device AI (Apple Intelligence)
ShareSifter includes an optional AI Research feature powered by Apple's FoundationModels framework. This feature runs entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. No text you enter, no stock data you view, and no AI-generated output is transmitted to external servers by ShareSifter or Apple as part of this feature.
This feature requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible device (iPhone 15 Pro or later with Apple Intelligence enabled).
6. Children's Privacy
ShareSifter is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, no special handling for children's data is applicable. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will take steps to address it.
7. Data Security
Because ShareSifter stores data only locally on your device and does not transmit personal information to any server we operate, the security of your data is governed by the security of your iOS device. We recommend keeping your device updated and protected with a passcode or biometrics.
8. Links to Third-Party Services
The App may display information sourced from third-party providers. This policy applies only to ShareSifter itself. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of Alpha Vantage or any other third-party service referenced within the App.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
